Biogenic synthesis of palladium nanoparticles: New production methods and applications

چکیده

Abstract The palladium (Pd)-catalysed reaction has attracted much attention, making Pd the most valuable of four major precious metals. Several different forms can be used as a catalyst; nanoparticles (NPs) have advantage high surface area:volume ratio. Since chemical production NPs is not environmentally friendly, biological synthesis interest grown. However, mechanism remained unknown in several cases and was recently described for electroactive bacterium Shewanella oneidensis MR-1. application these green synthesised established fields. This review discusses pathway novel biological-inspired methods to produce tailored biogenic (bio-Pd NPs), with their broad fields nanocatalysts. Two significant applications – reductive bioremediation persistent organic contaminants energy-producing microbial fuel cells are discussed detail. current challenges optimising bio-Pd potential research directions complete utilisation its catalytic properties highlighted.
